Baby's death ruled homicide

The death of a 7-month-old boy has been ruled a homicide.

Dr. William Graham, the Columbiana County coroner, issued the ruling. Derek A. Dennison died at Salem Community Hospital’s emergency room early July 23. The child was in an “unresponsive” state when he arrived at the hospital. Efforts to revive him failed, and he was pronounced dead.

Fran Rudibaugh, an investigator for the coroner, said the boy died of blunt trauma.
