Mahoning Valley raises more than $300K for MDA

NILES — The Mahoning Valley raised $319,542 Monday for the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.

The 45th annual telethon raises money each year for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The local MDA district met at Eastwood Mall to raise money that will help people in 14 Ohio counties.

This year’s show reached 40 million viewers and raised a total of $58.9 million.

MDA is a voluntary heath agency with the goal of conquering neuromuscular diseases that affect more than 1 million Americans.
