PITTSBURGH

Police in western Pennsylvania say an 11-year-old boy was accidentally shot and killed while visiting a friend’s house.

Christopher Harr, who had just started at Ligonier Valley Middle School, would have turned 12 on Oct. 2.

Ligonier Township Police Chief Michael Matrunics said one juvenile accidentally shot the victim Friday while playing with a .30- caliber carbine rifle.

Township police and Westmoreland County detectives are investigating.

Daniel Harr said his son loved fishing, hunting and video games.

He said the shooting should serve as a warning to parents to keep their guns locked up and unloaded in the house.
