The engagement of Ashley Lauren Ruperto and Preston William Hernandez, both of Concord, N.C., is announced by his parents, Robert and Terri Hernandez of Mineral Ridge.

The bride-to-be is a daughter of Daniel Bradaick and Kathleen Bradaick, both of Pittsburgh.

The couple will be united in marriage during an open ceremony at 3 p.m. Oct. 16 at First United Methodist Church of Girard. Invitations will be issued for their evening reception at Mahoning Country Club , Girard.

The bride-elect is attending the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.

Her fiancé graduated from Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management and is employed by Makeover My Yard in Harrisburg, N.C. He is a lance corporal in the Marine Corps Reserve.
