YSU LIVE | Penguins trail 30-7 after three quarters
YSU's upset chances vanished on the opening play of the third quarter when Chaz Powell scored on a 100-yard kickoff return that gave Penn State a 23-7 lead. A few minutes later, the Nittany Lions scored again when QB Robert Bolden found Brett Brackett for a 22-yard TD.
Mooney High graduate Michael Zordich, PSU's backup fullback, got his first carry of the game in the quarter, gaining 4 yards. He's one of two Mooney grads on Penn State's roster, along with RB Brandon Beachum, who will redshirt this year while he recovers from an ACL tear suffered last November.
Penn State has a first-and-10 at YSU's 22 as it opens the quarter and seems poised to extend its margin. But give the Penguins credit -- they've forced Penn State to keep their starters in for longer than many expected.
