Poland band performs at Canfield Show of Bands

The Poland Seminary High School Marching Band performed Selections from Riverdance, Any Way You Want It, Cold Hearted Snake, Here It Goes Again, Sing Sing Sing, Don’t Stop Believin’ and Poker Face.

The Poland marching band, under the direction of Nick Olesko, Jeff Hvizdos and Julie DiFrancesco, performed several selections from its halftime show during the annual Canfield Show of Bands Tuesday.

The band performed from “Riverdance,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Cold Hearted Snake,” “Here It Goes Again,” “Sing Sing Sing,” “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Poker Face.”

The band is comprised if 180 students and features a flag line and majorettes.

The band show also included performances by the Struthers High School Marching Band, the West Branch High School Warrior Band, the Austintown Fitch Falcon Marching Band, the Boardman Spartan Marching Band and the Canfield High School Cardinal Pride Marching Band.

The show is an opportunity for the bands to preview their halftime shows to nearly 1,000 spectators, including parents, grandparents, friends and family of all the school marching band members.

According to Shawn Kutan, president of the Canfield Band Boosters, the show has been an annual tradition for years and is a big fundraiser for the booster club.
