Fitch girls soccer coach Carlo Trafficante has a numbers problem this season. But it’s not what you think.

With 43 players on this year’s roster, Trafficante has plenty of players, including 21 upperclassmen. In his ninth season as head girls coach and his 12th overall with the program, Trafficante’s Falcons went 12-5-2 overall last year and finished runner-up (6-1) in Federal League play. “We return 10 starters, so expectations for us this year are very high. Our defense the last several seasons has been solid and this year will be no different,” said Trafficante.

“We just need to take better advantage of and finish our scoring opportunities and if we stay healthy, then we should be alright.” Seven seniors were lost from a season ago and they include Christian Goleno, Bethany Mattern, Kalynn Novosel, Kacie Donahue, Brittany Ellis, Angela Hopton and Rachel Ferguson.

With 10 seniors and 11 juniors returning to the fold, leadership should not be a problem this season. The seniors are Tori Koch, Sara Ford, twins Kaitlyn and Jennifer Shiley, Kristen Schmidt, Adrianna Caruso, Kelsey Martin, Ali Tolich, Sammi Devenport and Ashley Meade.

The junior class consists of Lexi McWreath, Julianna Figueroa, Emily Durina, Lauren Paolucci, Jenna Yacovone, Molly Custer, Kayleigh Choma, Hanna Steinker, Paige Williams, Jenna Davis and Daziana Velasquez.

The Falcons will also be strong with seven sophomores and 15 freshmen waiting to contribute as well. The sophomore class consists of Brooke Neal, Meghan Shonce, Krista Martin, Sara Greathouse, Megan Miller, Jaclynn Choma and Jessica Scott.

The freshmen are Cassie Custer, Mikah Vaughn, Madison Hefner, Jayme Ritchie, Elizabeth Mosier, Mandi Koch, Lauren Bower, Cassie Keller, Sydney Danko, Anna Maria Jadue, Brittany Veltri, Casey Roberts, Alyssa McKula, Bree Helminiak and Andrea Precurato.
