Poland girls soccer team seeking fast start

The Poland Bulldogs went 16-3-2 overall a season ago and posted a 2-2-2 mark in All-American Conference play, finishing as runners-up in the league to the champion Howland Tigers.
“The key to our success this year will be our speed and I honestly feel that we can be a very good team despite the fact that we lost eight seniors off of last year’s squad,” said coach John Cavalier.
“Staying healthy is obviously a key, but believing in ourselves and improving each and every time out as the season progresses are two very big factors as well.”
Cavalier is in his third season with the program and will look to replace departing seniors Taylor Marucci, Jordan Palumbo, Chelsea Conzett, Madison Gussler, Abbie Chandler, Vivian Clayton, Alicia Taylor and Rachael Ames.
Three seniors, Tatum Marucci, Lindsey Cooper and Samantha Susich, are all serving as tri-captains this season. There are 11 juniors and six sophomores filling out the varsity roster.
The junior class includes Katie Marucci, Erin Gabriel, Channy Conzett, Kelsey Malenic, Abby Brenoel, Amura Bobby, Erin Carreiro, Abby Frank, Payton Maurer, Madison Brooker and Jeana Visingardi.
The six sophomores are Carolyn Valvano, Rachael Robertson, Meredith Testa, Anna Barnhart, Marissa Trevis and Jessica Rutana.
