Cooper shelled, Scrappers lose

WILLIAMSPORT, PA.
Scrappers starter Jordan Cooper surrendered seven runs in 11/3 innings as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers fell to the Williamsport Crosscutters 9-5 in a New-York Penn League game on Thursday.
Cooper (5-5) gave up seven hits with two strikeouts and a walk for the Scrappers (30-43), who are in last place in the Pinckney Division with three games remaining.
Mahoning Valley won the division last season, finishing with the league’s best regular season record.
Diego Seastrunk and Trent Baker each had two hits, including a double, and scored a run for the Scrappers, which led 3-0 before Williamsport scored eight runs in the bottom of the second inning. Giovanny Urshela had two RBIs.
Ryne White had two hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs to lead the Crosscutters (41-32).
Mahoning Valley returns home tonight for a three-game series against Jamestown.
