Families flocked to Boardman Park and enjoyed free fun-filled activities during Family Night on Saturday.
Residents of all ages were treated to a magic show, bounce-arounds, wagon rides through the park, Jocko the clown, a concert by Pipe Dreams and the movie “Up.”
Porgie the Clown provided entertainment for children and adults alike with a magic show at the front of Maag Outdoor Theatre. He delighted his audience with magic tricks and even asked for several volunteers from the audience.
Two bounce-arounds provided by Bounce-A-Round were set up for children to bounce in and run through and Jocko the Clown, a frequent visitor to Boardman Park, took a variety of requests for balloon figures, ranging from a dragonfly to an Elmo hat. Members of the Bridge of Hope Church also walked through the park to hand out balloons to the children.
An outdoor concert in Maag Theatre by Pipe Dreams, of western Pennsylvania, rocked the park. The band played something for everyone with hits from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s for the large crowd.
According to band member Bob Malaniak, Pipe Dreams has played gigs from Cleveland to Pittsburgh. Band members include Dave Samson on drums, Charlie Fischer on keyboard, James Williman on lead guitar and Malaniak on vocals and guitar.
With the activities winding down around dusk, families were able to wrap up their evening at the park with a viewing of the movie “Up” on a large outdoor screen.
