With six seniors and 10 juniors comprising this year’s Boardman High boys soccer roster, upperclass leadership is definitely one of the strong points regarding this year’s team.

The Spartans were 10-4-3 overall a season ago and 3-3-1 in Federal League play, hoping this year to improve both ledgers under head coach Ahmet Olgun and assistant coach Eric Simione.

Both coaches agree it’s too early to tell how good their group will be this season, but if they stay healthy and play together, they should be a competitive force in 2010.

Gone is the entire defense from a season ago and seniors Angelo Pasquale, Olgun’s son, Devrim, Joe Vitullo, Richard Pipak, Garrett Pancake and Ryan Giambattista will need to be replaced.

The six seniors returning to the fold include Cameron Broyles, Sam Cervone, Danny Kennedy, Zaire Morrison, Nat Smaldino and Christopher Tokarsky.

The junior class includes Michael Billett, Nico Graziani, Marcus Hanna, Matthew Horvatich, Mike Luongo, Andrew Peters, Drew Roberts, Bryan Sheely, Christian Silvestri and Eric Thomas.

Two sophomores, Anthony Calautti and Nico BiIanni, and two freshmen, Luke Marsco and Alex Thomas are also expected to see plenty of playing time.
