‘My Name is Ruth’ wins NY award

NEW YORK

34west Theater Company’s “My Name Is Ruth” won the Overall Excellence in Playwriting Award on Sunday at the New York International Fringe Festival.

The play was written by Stephen Baldwin, one of the founders of 34west. “I was stunned to say the least,” Baldwin said about the victory.

The theater company, known for its uplifting works, started in the Mahoning Valley and still produces its original plays at Dutch Village Inn in Columbiana, as well as in New York.

The New York Fringe Festival included about 400 original plays that were selected for performance this year.
