MDA national telethon at Eastwood this year

The local venue for the 2010 Muscular Dystrophy Association’s national Telethon is Center Court of the Eastwood Mall from 9 a.m. Sunday to 7 p.m. Monday. The venue was previously the Canfield Fair.

This is the 44th year of MDA’s national Telethon hosted by National Chairman Jerry Lewis. MDA is a voluntary, national health agency, the goal of which is to conquer 43 different neuro-muscular diseases. Most of the diseases are genetic.

The Northeast Ohio District of MDA provides services to more than 600 families in 14 counties, including Mahoning and Trumbull counties, with clinic support, repairs of durable medical equipment, support groups, vaccinations and summer camp for children 6-17 years of age.

WYTV 33 in Youngstown is broadcasting the local MDA event.
