FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


WEDNESDAY

Southington United Methodist Church, state Route 305 at 534, Southington, will serve chicken dinners from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The menu will include half a chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw and homemade desserts. The cost is $7.50 for adults. Meals with chicken tenders for children 4 through 10 are $4. Those 3 and under eat free. Carryouts available. Call 330-898-2156 and a meal will be ready for pickup.

THURSDAY

Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, Poland, will serve homemade dinners to go. The sale will be from 3:30 p.m. until the food is sold out. Cost of the meal, which comprises a baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans, is $6. Take advantage of the drive-through service. Drive up to the front of the church and someone will hand you a dinner to go. No need to order or get out of your car.

St. Michael Orthodox Church, 125 Steel St., Youngstown, will serve a homemade Chinese lunch and supper from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday. This week’s menu will feature five-spice beef (not hot spice) and Shanghai chicken. The cost of the meal is $5. No reservations are necessary.

Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, will sell takeout meals of stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, green beans and a brownie from 4 p.m. until sold out. The cost is $7. No reservations required. Just drive through and pick up a dinner.

FRIDAY

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 Lipkey Road, North Jackson, will sell 12-inch Briar Hill style pizzas for $8 each every Friday. Orders will be accepted before 5 p.m. Fridays, and pickup will be from 3 to 6 p.m. For more information or to place an order call 330-538-3351.

UPCOMING

Champion Rotary Club will have an all-you-can-eat buffet style Amish dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at Champion Presbyterian Outreach Center. Meals include roast beef, baked chicken, stuffing, real mashed potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, bread and date pudding. There will also be a variety of pies. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for those 6-12, and free for those 5 and under. Advance tickets are advised and can be purchased by calling 330-847-8964 or 330-307-9065, or in Champion at R.D.
