YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown police transported a group of teens to the Mahoning County Juvenile Justice Center Friday as people of interest in a rash of recent South Side burglaries.

Two of the teens were arrested on charges of carrying concealed weapons.

Officers found the group of young males standing in the dark near a garage behind the 3000 block of Market Street. As the officers approached the group in a cruiser, the juveniles began to walk away. One ran off, but six complied with police, who patted them down.

One teen was found to have a revolver and was arrested on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon. A second teen tossed a handgun into the bushes. Police retrieved it and arrested him on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.

Police believe the firearms recovered may have been used to commit a home invasion the night before.
