Economic Development

Henry Holden has been elected chairman and president of the Board of Trustees for the Youngstown Area Development Corporation. He is the operating officer and majority owner of L.E. Black, Phillips and Holden Funeral Home.

The YADC board also elected Molly Seals as its vice chairwoman and vice president. Seals is senior vice president of Human Resources and Learning at Humility of Mary Health Partners.

Holden and Seals were also elected to serve as president and vice president, respectively, of Plaza View Apartments.

James Glenn, the YADC board’s secretary-treasurer and William Carter, YADC’s executive director, have been re-elected to their current positions.

RESEARCH

Marvin Schwartz, the chief science officer of the Youngstown Business Incubator, has taken on the role of chief scientist of the Case Connection Zone, Case Western Reserve University’s research program that aims to bring gigabit fiber to the home. In this new capacity, Schwartz will coordinate the overall research agenda for the program as well as serve as the public face of the project.

Cohen & Company, a regional certified public accounting firm, recently announced the addition of 15 new employees. Haleigh Berg, Angel Rice, Joe DiFranco, Marilyn Surbey and Maggie Donnelly will join the company as staff accountants. Laura Keck has been named a senior staff accountant. Robert Cross, Gordy Jones, Ashleu Tonkovich, Anna Ingleright and Kevin McNamara will join the Cohen Fund Audit Services staff. Tim Allen has been named a manager of Cohen Audit Fund Services. Erin Clark and Christine Picard Bowers will join the firm’s marketing team, and Nicole McTaggert will become a member of the company’s administrative staff.
