Poland Knights of Columbus donate thousands

The Knights of Columbus, Poland Council No. 4471, presented a $2,100 check to Sr. Kathleen McCaregher and her students who assist with Good News Ministries at Ursuline High School on Oct. 12.

The proceeds will help the ministry group continue to prepare developmentally disabled children from the Diocese of Youngstown to receive their sacraments. The money came from the council’s annual Measure-Up Campaign this spring and was donated by Poland area businesses and collected by the Knights at local parishes and Sam’s Club on South Avenue.

The Knights also gave Boy Scout Troop No. 3 and their leader James Warneke a check for $1,100 on Oct. 18. The Scout troop is based in the Mahoning Valley and is the only troop that deals with Scouts who are developmentally disabled.
