A city man is being held in the Mahoning County jail, charged with a murder that took place late last year.

Marcus Rutledge, 24, of Brookline Avenue, is charged in the murder of 23-year-old Darrick M. Hall. Rutledge was booked into the county jail Thursday.

Rutledge was indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury in October along with Earl Charity III, 24, of Delaware Avenue, on a charge of aggravated murder with firearm specifications.

Hall, of East Marion Avenue, was shot multiple times and left to die in the early hours of Oct. 4, 2009.

Hall was killed at North Avenue and Arlington Street on the city’s North Side around 2 a.m. Police found him lying in the grass on the east side of North Avenue about 150 feet north of Arlington.

Officers found multiple spent shell casings near Hall’s body as well as keys to a Buick Park Avenue car. The car was about 30 feet from Hall’s body. In the rear seat of the car was a handgun, police said.
