DUQUESNE UNIVERSITY, Pittsburgh

Danielle Chintella, daughter of Dick and Debbie Frost of Mineral Ridge and Dan and Loretta Chintella of Girard, recently graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She has accepted a position at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Fla. She also graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor of science in applied science. She is a 2004 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School.

UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-MADISON

Monica Cuevas, Boardman High School Class of 2003, was admitted to a Master’s/Ph.D. program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She will be studying sociology with a focus on education, Latino issues and related subtopics. She graduated in 2007 from Columbia University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology, Latin American studies and education. After graduating, she worked for two nonprofit organizations. Most recently, she worked as a research assistant at a nonprofit social science research organization in New York City, where her work focused on community college education for low-income students in Ohio and New York City.

UNIVERSITY OF AKRON

Evan Sander of Ellsworth, a sophomore at the University of Akron, was recently inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Membership is by invitation only and based on a 3.5 grade-point average, a top-20-percent class ranking, along with leadership and involvement in activities. Sander is an honors graduate from Ursuline High School, where he was also a member of the National Honor Society and Who’s Who of American High School Students. Upon completion of his sophomore year at Akron, he has been accepted into the musical management program at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., for his junior and senior years. While in the program, he will also be interning with one of the music companies in Nashville. Sander is the son of Paula Moss-Sander and Jeff Sander.

UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH, Tennessee

Lauren Berny of Boardman was inducted into the Order of Gownsmen at the University of the South during the Opening Day Convocation earlier this month. The Order of Gownsmen is a unique student government body among U.S. colleges and universities. Since 1875, the Order of Gownsmen has remained the body responsible for maintaining the spirit, traditions and ideals of the University of the South. The wearing of the gown is both a sign of academic achievement and a promise to continue the ideals and traditions of the university.
