Neighbors | Submitted. The Boardman Spartan Marching Band will perform many of the selections from this season'sa halftime show during a concert tonight at the high school.

The Boardman Spartan Marching Band will present a retrospective of the 2010 marching season today at 7 p.m. in the Boardman High School gymnasium.

The band will play all the music from the field shows, while the Spartan Sweethearts, Silks, Twirlers and Drum Majors perform their visual routines on the gym floor.

Musical selections will include “She Blinded Me With Science,” “Any Way You Want It,” “Hey Big Spender,” “Let’s Groove,” “Shake Your Groove Thing,” “Baba O’Riley,” “Into, Under, and Across the Sea” and more.

There will be a reception in the cafeteria immediately following the concert with refreshments provided by the band students and the Boardman Band and Orchestra Parents, Inc.

Director of Bands Thomas M. Ruggieri allowed the students to dress in costumes instead of band uniforms at last year’s concert because it happened on Halloween.

This year’s concert is a day earlier, but the director is allowing costumes again because it was so much fun for the students and the audience.

“There is a catch,” said Ruggieri. “All costumes must fit the theme of the band’s big closing number “Into, Under, and Across the Sea.”

Expect to see mermaids, sailors, surfers, jellyfish and the like.

Admission to the concert is $3 for adults and $2 for students. Senior citizens are admitted free to all Boardman band events.
