Gregory Michael Voytilla Jr. and his bride, the former Alyx Lindsay Ackerfeld, honeymooned in Southern Italy following their Sept. 4 wedding at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and reception at The Lake Club in Poland.

Monsignor Michael Cariglio officiated at the 2:30 p.m. ceremony as nuptial vows were exchanged by the daughter of Gene and Julie Ackerfeld of Huntington, N.Y., and the son of Gregory and Janice Voytilla of Boardman.

The bride wore a strapless dupioni silk mermaid-style gown. It featured a notched front with lace appliqu s from the bustline to the hem, and a chapel train.

Samantha Tryon, the honor attendant, wore a black gown, as did the bridesmaids, Christine Cope, Morgan McCloskey, Kathryn Riverso and Heather Samlick. Flower girl was Michaela Weiss, the bride’s goddaughter.

The duties of best man were performed by Craig Fried, and groomsmen were Evan Ackerfeld, the bride’s brother; Ben Dougan; William Cafaro-Ferraro; and Jeffrey Staker. Ring bearer was Jacob Samlick.

The bride is a speech pathologist with The Lab School of Washington. She graduated from George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in speech and hearing sciences and a master’s degree in speech language pathology.

The groom graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in justice studies and is a senior consultant with Deloitte Consulting in Rosslyn, Va.

Mr. and Mrs. Voytilla live in Fairfax, Va.
