Youngstown State University’s 70th annual Homecoming Parade steps off at 11 a.m. Saturday on Fifth Avenue at Wood Street. The route travels along Fifth to Stambaugh Stadium.

Trophies will go to the floats deemed the most spirited, most creative and best overall.

The Penguins football team faces the Northern Iowa Panthers at 1 p.m.

Motorist sought

Police are looking for the driver of a black older-model pickup truck that was following a student trying to catch the school bus this week.

The 13-year old female student at Volney Rogers Junior High School was walking up Cohasset Avenue to Rosedale Avenue just before 7 a.m. Wednesday to catch the bus when she noticed the truck following her. The girl told police she could not see who was driving the truck.

The truck followed the girl for several streets, causing her to run to the location of the bus stop. The truck was parked a short distance away as the girl got on the bus.

Halloween party

EAST PALESTINE

Stone Springs Vineyard, 49995 state Route 14, will host a Halloween party from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

There will be food and wine samples, costume prizes, raffles and more at the family- friendly event, said owner Jes McCrea. The featured item will be the vineyard’s raspberry chocolate wine.

Sahara Club event

The Sahara Club, 2345 Youngstown Road, will have a free Halloween party from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday for children age 12 and younger.

Snacks and beverages will be provided, as well as prizes for best costumes in various age groups. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Sahara Club is an alcohol-free and drug-free club aimed at recovering substance abusers.

Campbell leaf pickup

Residents can pick up leaf bags at the Campbell Fire Department on Tenney Avenue. Bags should be placed at the curb and filled only with leaves.

The leaf-pickup schedule according to wards is: 4th Ward, Sunday to Nov. 6; 3rd Ward, Nov. 7 to Nov. 12; 2nd Ward, Nov. 14 to Nov. 19; and 1st Ward, Nov. 21 to Nov. 26.
