POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Oct. 17

Theft: Several tools were taken from a shed in the 8300 block of Morningside Drive.

Theft: Michael Norberg, 2785 Cunningham Road, Salem, was picked up in the 5800 block of Water Street on a theft charge. He also was charged with obstructing official business.

Oct. 23

Burglary: To a residence in the 2100 block of Knollwood Drive, from which a laptop computer and digital photographs were stolen.

Oct. 25

Identity theft: A township man, no address listed, reported his debit-card number had been compromised.

BOARDMAN

Oct. 23

Stolen property: William L. Chislom, 29, of 114 Saranac Ave., Youngstown, faced a felony count of receiving stolen property after police conducted vehicle checks on Doral Drive and determined the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that Chislom was in had been stolen in Canton during a carjacking incident.

Theft: Austintown authorities handed to Boardman police 42-year-old Sam V. Cianciola Jr., 521 Western Place, Austintown, who was wanted on a felony charge. His father, of Boardman, alleged Cianciola stole and pawned an $18,000 gold wristwatch.

Arson: Police assisted township firefighters with a fire in a trash bin in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle.

Theft: A woman stole $90 worth of groceries from Rulli Bros., 8025 South Ave.

Theft: A woman stole a $50 wig from The Hair Depot, 4026 Market St.

Fraud: A Quail Court man discovered $690 of unauthorized transactions had been made from his bank account.

Identity theft: A Market Street woman found out her address had been changed on her credit report without her knowledge.

Theft: A man reported the theft of Vicodin and other medications from his mother’s Afton Avenue home.

Counterfeit: A phony $50 bill was passed at Springfield Grille, 7413 Tiffany Blvd.

Theft: Meaghan M. Ritter, 20, of 2231 Clyde St., Poland, was charged with stealing a pair of boots from Sears in the Southern Park Mall. She also was wanted on a warrant.

Domestic violence: Matthew J. Campbell, 27, of 7410 West Blvd., was charged with domestic violence, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Campbell, who police said refused to cooperate during their investigation, was accused of spitting on and making threats against his wife.

Theft: Three women’s blouses were stolen from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall, resulting in a charge against 33-year-old Danielle L. Walters, 1145 E. Park Ave., Columbiana.

Domestic violence: Shannon N. Porter, 26, of 41 Sciota Ave., Boardman, was charged with the crime after her husband alleged Porter had struck him 20 to 25 times in the face and head during an argument related to text messages she had received.

Theft: Two Austintown girls, 15 and 16, were accused in the theft of merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Oct. 24

Domestic violence: The Ohio State Highway Patrol handed 36-year-old Dominic M. Gaudio, 29 Stanton Ave., Boardman, to township authorities. Gaudio’s wife alleged he had grabbed her hair, dragged her across the floor and pressed his thumb against her throat during an argument.

Domestic violence: Marcus R. Huffman, 25, of 7440 Oregon Trail, Boardman, was charged after Huffman’s wife alleged that during an argument, he had struck her.

Attempted fraud: An Indianola Road woman selling skin-care products told police she received a $3,000 cashiers check from someone claiming to live in North Carolina and that she believed the check was counterfeit.

Theft: A man stole a $40 electric razor and a nail clipper from Walgreen’s Pharmacy, 525 E. Midlothian Blvd. Stolen property: Police responding to a possible domestic situation in the 6900 block of Glenwood Avenue saw at the residence a street sign suspected to have been stolen.

Harassment: An employee of a Market Street business reported someone had been continually calling and yelling obscenities.

Theft: Antonia M. Skillas, 30, of 201 Reed Ave., Campbell, was charged, accused of stealing makeup from Walmart. She was released on a summons.

Oct. 25

Theft: A worker for a Market Street business discovered someone had removed the catalytic converter from a work van.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered the garage of an empty building in the 6100 block of Southern Boulevard and damaged a locking hasp.

Burglary: Took place in the 700 block of Maple Avenue. Stolen from the garage was a $600 chain saw.

Theft: Megan A. Beverly, 20, of 610 E. Lincoln Way, Lisbon, was charged in the theft of clothing and jewelry from Macy’s.

Forgery: Dandre L. Damous, 21, of 61 E. Auburndale Ave., Youngstown, faced felony charges of forgery and receiving stolen property after being accused of trying to cash a stolen check at Checksmart, 112 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A 16-year-old city girl was charged with stealing four purses from Sears.

Robbery: Police charged 35-year-old Michael P. Higgins, 2450 Stagecoach Road, East Liverpool, with robbery after a theft at Macy’s. Higgins struggled with a store employee who tried to detain him, a report said.

Threats: Daniel Morales Jr., 28, of 215 Steel St., Youngstown, was picked up on a township warrant charging him with making domestic-violence threats.

Theft: A woman reported her purse stolen at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant.

Criminal damaging: Scratches were found on a vehicle’s hood and bumper in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle.

Theft: A man reported the theft of a set of truck keys while at a Boardman-Canfield Road eatery.

Theft: A man reported his wallet stolen at a Southern Boulevard store.

Identity theft: A Brookfield Avenue man found out his personal information had been used without consent to make two purchases.

Identity theft: A Centervale Avenue woman discovered $500 missing from her bank account, apparently after someone had obtained her personal information.

Identity fraud: A Ridgefield Avenue woman realized someone claiming to be the accuser had a utility placed in her name without authorization.

Theft: An official with Home Savings and Loan, 4005 Hillman Way, told police that a teller mistakenly gave a customer twice the amount of a withdrawal and that the customer refused to rectify the error.

Theft: A man in his mid-30s stole a pair of men’s pants from The Hair Depot.

Theft: A Glenwood Avenue woman reported her debit card stolen while at work.
