East Palestine theater brings ‘Sweeney Todd’ to the stage

EAST PALESTINE

East Palestine Community Theater’s production of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” opens Friday and runs for two weekends at the East Palestine Masonic Temple, 21 N. Market St.

The fledgling theater company is having its season in the Masonic Temple while renovation work continues on its own theater in downtown East Palestine.

“Sweeney Todd,” Stephen Sondheim’s landmark musical, is directed by Ryan Newell.

The cast includes Matthew Schomer as Sweeney Todd; Mary Vallas as Mrs. Lovett; Connor Bezeredi, Carly Magnuson, Jessica Stratton, John Monroe, Wayne Morris, Abby Cull, Tom Kusiowski, Randall Brammer, Josh Fleming and Mandi Dripps.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Nov. 6; and 2 p.m. Sunday and Nov. 7.

There also will be a special Halloween show at midnight Saturday.

Tickets are $15 ($10 at the midnight show for those who come in costume).
