Brilex Industries, one of Youngstown’s fastest-growing companies, has acquired Taylor Winfield, a metalworking-machinery company that has been in the Valley for more than a century.

The deal, which closed earlier this month, is part of Brilex’s global- expansion strategy, said vice president Alex Benyo.

“This helps solidify our global growth,” Benyo said. “It helps us deliver leading, cutting-edge technology throughout the world.”

Benyo, who co-founded Brilex in 1996 with his brother Brian Benyo, will take the helm of the new company, Taylor Winfield Technologies.

Brian Benyo, the president of Brilex, will be vice president of Taylor Winfield.

The terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

The acquisition also ensures that Taylor Winfield’s operations stay in the Mahoning Valley, Alex Benyo said.

“We want to return the company’s image back to its dominance in the strip-mill industry,” he said.

“It has excellent product lines that are known throughout the world and a great, innovative work force.”

Taylor Winfield, which designs and makes welding and heating equipment, has 60 employees at its offices in Brookfield and a manufacturing facility in Youngstown’s Salt Springs Industrial Park.

Brilex’s purchase will keep those jobs in the area, Alex Benyo added.

The Taylor Winfield purchase is the most recent in a series of acquisitions Brilex has made this year.

Last month, the company acquired a 50 percent ownership of Enexa, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of The Excent Group, a French company.

Enexa primarily produces manufacturing equipment for the energy and aerospace industries.

Brilex now has six operating units in the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys.
