NJ governor to announce future of rail tunnel

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie isn’t saying just yet whether he’ll scratch the nation’s biggest public works project.

Appearing on the “Don Wade and Roma” show on Chicago radio station WLS Wednesday, Christie said he would make an announcement soon. But the governor told the show he can’t allow the state to spend money that it doesn’t have no matter how worthy the project.

Christie has scheduled an 11 a.m. news conference at the Statehouse in Trenton.

Officials have told The Associated Press Christie is standing by his original decision to kill the $9 billion-plus rail tunnel under the Hudson River.
