Artists sought for holiday festival

NILES

The Art Outreach Gallery at Eastwood Mall has issued a regional call for visual and performing artists up to age 26 for its first Fine and Performing Holiday Arts Festival, Dec. 18-19 at the Eastwood Expo Center.

Performances can include dance, dramatic interpretations, poetry reading, choral and instrumental music choreography, film clips and visual art of all media. Guidelines and applications can be downloaded at artoutreach.org or picked up at the gallery. Kent State University-Trumbull will present select films from the Global Film Initiative’s Global Lens 2010 film series in Room 117 of the Tech Building. The entire series is being shown at The Lemon Grove Cafe, 122 W. Federal St., Youngstown.

All screenings are free. Many of the films contain mature images or themes not appropriate for children.

The schedule for screenings at Kent-Trumbull is as follows:

“Ocean of an Old Man,” 3:30 p.m. Nov. 15; “Ordinary People,” 3:30 p.m. Nov. 17; “My Tehran For Sale,” 5 p.m. Nov. 18; “The Shaft,” 4 p.m. Dec. 11; “Shirley Adams,” 8 p.m. Dec. 12.

Dinner-dance set

The Circle of Serbian Sisters will present A Night in Belgrade dinner-dance at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Serbian Memorial Hall, 54 Laird St. A buffet dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. Entertainment will be by Libby’s Tamburitzans and Trzalica Orchestra.

Tickets are $20 ($8 for children age 6-12; free for children 5 and under). Tickets are also available for just the dance only at $10. For reservations, call 330-759-1671 or 724-581-8770.
