1 fatally shot, 1 wounded in Mo., gunman sought
HOLTS SUMMIT, Mo. (AP) — Authorities in central Missouri are searching for a gunman after a 46-year-old man was killed and his wife was wounded.
Authorities said Wednesday that the gunman is also believed to be responsible for other killings, but they have not released further details.
Callaway County Sheriff Denis Crane says the man is suspected in the shooting death of Jeffrey Werdehausen, of Holts Summit. His wife, 41-year-old Gina Werdehausen, is hospitalized at University Hospital in Columbia. Both were shot on Tuesday night.
The University of Missouri-Columbia says the hospital is on lockdown but no other buildings on campus are affected.
Crane says the suspect may be armed with a high-powered rifle and apparently targeted his victims.
