Woman run over by car

A city woman was taken to the hospital after she was run over by a car.
The 21-year-old victim said she was at a Hilton Avenue home with her boyfriend about 9 p.m. Sunday when another woman the boyfriend knew came to the residence and began an argument.
The victim said she attempted to stop the argument by telling her boyfriend to leave when the woman, also 21, of Youngstown, got into her car and drove toward the victim.
The woman alledgedly struck the victim with her car, running her over, then backed up and drove over her again, according to a police report.
The victim told police she lost consciousness after she was run over the second time. She was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.
A report on her condition wasn’t available Monday night.
Wearing of the pink

City employees are asked to wear pink to work Thursday in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Employees and those coming to city hall this week are asked to donate money into pink coffee cans throughout the building at 26 S. Phelps St. The money will go to A Way With Words Foundation, a nonprofit organization for cancer patients.
Beating investigated

Police are investigating the reported beating of a 25-year-old Youngstown woman while she was at a bar in the downtown area.
The woman told police she was at the Love Lounge at 2 a.m. Sunday when three woman approached her and began beating her in the head and body, knocking her unconscious. The woman could not give officers any description of the attackers.
The woman was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment.
Police probe shooting

Police are investigating the weekend shooting of a man on the city’s North Side.
Hakeem Arrington, 19, of West Warren Avenue, was shot in both legs while standing in the 600 block of Griffith Street Saturday afternoon. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, but there is no information available about his condition.
According to police reports, Arrington went outside to smoke when he was approached by two men who began beating and kicking him. He told police he was on the ground when a third man approached and shot him in both legs. All three men ran off.
Committee meeting

A committee that is working to support a levy for the city will meet tonight. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at city hall on Tenney Avenue. Campbell has a 3.5-mill, five-year property-tax levy on the ballot next Tuesday for general-fund operating expenses.
Robberies in Warren
WARREN
Police are investigating robberies Saturday and Sunday on the West Side.
Two men wearing masks and holding guns kicked down the front door of a home on Penn Avenue Northwest at 12:30 a.m. Saturday and robbed a 23-year-old man and his 20-year-old girlfriend, who were playing video games.
The man didn’t give up his wallet right away, so one of the robbers hit him in the head with a pistol. He suffered a cut on his head and swelling. The robbers took the man’s wallet, containing $300, and the woman’s purse, which contained two cell phones, police said.
Two men with guns and masks also robbed the McQuaid’s gas station, 805 W. Market St., about 7 a.m. Sunday, stealing about $500, boxes of cigarettes and cigars, police said.
One of the robbers also forced a store clerk into the back room and took her cell phone, the clerk said.
Boys may face charges

Police took three boys age 13, 15 and 16 to the Trumbull County Juvenile Court on Sunday afternoon to face possible charges after a BB gun was pointed at an employee of Red and White Market, 1104 W. Market St.
The employee said he confronted the boys regarding stolen bottles of pop. He saw the boys putting the beverages in their pants about 7 p.m. and stopped them at the front door of the store, telling them to take the bottles out.
But one of the boys pulled out the gun, pointed it at the employee and said, “Surprise,” police said.
The three boys fled on their bicycles.
Officers responding to the 911 call spotted three boys on bicycles near Quinby Park on Austin Avenue near Front Street who matched the description. Police apprehended them, finding two BB guns and a bottle of pop in a backpack.

Registered voters who reside in Hubbard’s 1st Ward will be voting at Hubbard Public Library, 436 W. Liberty St., from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Election Day, Tuesday.
This is a permanent relocation from the Hubbard Fire Station. Voting machines will be set up in the library’s main meeting room. Voters can enter from the back of the building; the door will be marked with a flag.

Felonious assault charge

Police charged Kelly Dykes, 28, of the 2400 block of Russell Ave., Youngstown, with felonious assault and improperly discharging a firearm after an incident shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday in the 4800 block of Sampson Drive. Police said this was the 26th call to this residence since January 2008.
Police responded and spoke with the victim, a 41-year-old woman. She said Dykes stopped at the house, had an argument with her, brandished a handgun and shot at her. He returned to his vehicle, shot a few more rounds and left. Later that night, Youngstown police arrested Dykes, who was arraigned Monday in Girard Municipal Court. He failed to post $30,000 bond and remains in Trumbull County Jail. His next court appearance will be at 9 a.m. Nov. 3.
Violation of order

Jesse C. Boarts, 43, whose last known address was in the 300 block of Powers Ave., was ordered to Trumbull County Sheriff’s Jail for 17 days because of a violation of a protection order at his old address. No bond was set. He will be back in Girard Municipal Court at 2 p.m. Nov. 3.
Police traveling north on Ward at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday saw Boarts traveling south and were aware of an active warrant. He was arrested and charged with possession of criminal tools, open liquor container, failing to comply with an officer’s signal and reckless operation of a vehicle. Police found a Crossman 760 rifle with BB pellets, open beer, a scanner tuned to the GPD frequency, black ski mask and aluminum baseball bat.
The resident at the Powers Avenue home told police that Boarts was a friend of her son’s and she had allowed him to stay at their home but no longer wanted him there.

Area Agency on Aging 11, in partnership with the Social Security Administration, is offering free Medicare Check-Up Days beginning Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Newport Library, 3730 Market St., Youngstown.
Medicare Check-Up Days can help people choose a Medicare prescription drug Part D plan and/or Medicare health plan for next year. Agency on aging staff also will discuss Social Security’s Low-Income Subsidy, known as Extra Help, which can save up to $3,900 on prescription costs.
Participants must bring their Medicare card and a complete list of prescriptions and dosage. Reservations are not required.

Man injured in accident
HERMITAGE, PA.
A man is in stable condition in St. Elizabeth Medical Center after his car was struck by another car, forcing it into a telephone pole.
The accident happened at the intersection of King and South Buhl Farm drives.
Hermitage Police said Jermaine Cornelius, 28, of 359 N. Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage, was hit by Michael Demarco, 30, of 2260 Mercer-West Middlesex Road, West Middlesex, Pa., at 1 a.m. Sunday.
Cornelius was taken by helicopter to St. Elizabeth’s. He was in stable condition Monday, the hospital said.
Police said Demarco fled, but they found him a short time later in a nearby yard.
He is charged with aggravated assault by motor vehicle and driving under the influence, police said.
Demarco and a passenger in his car were not hurt.
Man faces charges

Robert E. Wilson, 20, of the 400 block of Browning Ave., Youngstown, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, having weapons while under disability because of a previous conviction and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after an incident at the Days Inn, Motor Inn Drive, off of Belmont Avenue. Wilson appeared Monday morning in Girard Municipal Court and, after failing to post $17,500 bond, remains in Trumbull County Jail.
Police were called to the hotel Saturday morning because of a noise issue. In a room, police said they found two 16-year-old female juveniles and Raymond L. Johnson, 18, of the 400 block of Sherwood Ave., Youngstown, who was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Police said they found a .38 caliber revolver.
