“Undercover Boss” (8 p.m., CBS): This week on “Undercover Boss,” Steve Phelps, the senior vice president of NASCAR, actually gets grease on his hands. He works with a pit crew preparing for the Daytona 500.

“Sherlock” (9 p.m., PBS): Surprise, surprise: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s brainy sleuth is now into social media and Google. This funny and fast-paced new offering from “Masterpiece Mystery!” presents a contemporary Sherlock, played by the charismatic Benedict Cumberbatch. Skeptical? Don’t be. Even though the series takes place in 21st century Britain, it remains true to the iconic hero’s eccentricities and remarkable gifts for deduction. And, yes, he’s still aided by a droll Dr. Watson (Martin Freeman), who chronicles Holmes’ adventures in a blog. First up is a case that has them investigating the murder of a woman, clad in pink, whose body was discovered in an abandoned building.
