Justice candidates


Justice Judith Lanzinger of the Ohio Supreme Court is facing a challenge from Judge Mary Jane Trapp of the 11th District Court of Appeals for a position on the Supreme Court bench in the general election. An (*) denotes the incumbent.

JUDITH LANZINGER*

Age: 64

Home: Columbus.

Family: Married, two children.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in education and law degree, both from University of Toledo.

Experience: Practiced law for seven years before being elected to Toledo Municipal Court. Served there three years before being elected to Lucas County Common Pleas Court, a seat she held for about 14 years. Served on 6th District Court of Appeals 2002-04 before being elected to Ohio Supreme Court. She’s completing her first six-year term.

MARY JANE TRAPP

Age: 54

Home: Russell Township.

Family: Married, four children, three grandchildren.

Education: Graduate of Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts; received law degree from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland. Admitted to Ohio State Bar Association in 1981.

Experience: Worked more than 25 years in civil and criminal trial and appellate practice. Elected to 11th District Court of Appeals in 2006; currently presiding judge.
