Canfield girls soccer team tops Niles

The Canfield girls varsity soccer team stopped Niles from scoring in its 1-0 win Oct. 15.

Canfield had 11 shots on goal to Niles’ four and Rachel Morris scored one goal with an assist by Shelby Lazar.

Jackie Podolsky had one save and Olivia Governor had three, Niles goalie Emily Estes had 10 saves.

The Canfield JV beat Niles 4-0.

Another shut out for Canfield

The Canfield boys soccer team again shut out Niles with a 2-0 score Oct. 14.

Shawn Madison and PJ Stickle each scored one goal for the team and Tommy Yankush assisted on both. Mike Thomas had two saves as goalie for Canfield. Canfield took 12 shots to Niles’ one.

The Canfield JV won 1-0.

Cardinals girls soccer wins by one

The visiting Canfield Cardinals girls soccer team defeated Salem 1-0 Oct. 11.

Canfield had 22 shots on goal and Jackie Podolsky had four saves. Paige Baker scored the lone goal.

The JV game was called due to thunder with Canfield having a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half.

Shut out record broken by soccer team

The Canfield varsity boys soccer team broke the school record of shutouts in a regular season with a 1-0 victory over Salem.

The lone goal was scored by PJ Stickle on a penalty kick. Canfield took 14 shots and Mike Thomas, Canfield goalie, made nine saves.

The win gave the team its 10th shutout of the season.

The Canfield JV won 8-1.

Canfield finishes season with Firestone

The Canfield boys varsity soccer team fell to Akron Firestone 4-1 Saturday.

Canfield’s only goal was made by Dylan Seybert with an assist from PJ Stickle. Canfield took a total of 15 shots. Firestone took 13 shots with two goals by Adam Comer, one from Richard Milford and one from Husain Tymoore.

Mike Thomas had three saves and Mike Whitmann had five saves for the Cardinals.

The Canfield varsity ended the regular season 14-2-0.

Canfield JV ended the season undefeated with a victory over Firestone, 3-1. The JV record was 13-0-1.

Blitz mobile at Poland-Canfield game

The Vindicator BLITZ Mobile will travel to the Poland-Canfield game on Friday. The trailer will be set up from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Canfield High School parking lot.

Students and fans can get free food and beverages. Also, students from boh schools will compete in Madden football, football trivia and corn hole competitions.

Also of note, the commissioner of the Ohio High School Athletic Association, Dr. Ross, will attend the game.

The football game will be broadcast on WNIO 1390.
