WARREN
Hospice of the Valley and SCOPE, the group of senior centers in Trumbull County, have received charitable donations of $15,000 each, the proceeds from a recent benefit concert by Michael Stanley and the Resonators at the W.D. Packard Music Hall.
The charity concert Sept. 25 was the first conducted by Packed House Productions. The checks were given out Friday.
“We want to raise awareness and funds for charities through music,” said Dr. James DeVengencie, a local dentist who founded Packed House with his wife, Dr. Laura DeVengencie, earlier this year. The concert was sold out.
“We have many clients who need extra help with utility bills, and we’re also planning to use the funds for Christmas baskets,” said Janet Schweitzer, executive director of Senior Citizens Opportunity for Personal Endeavor.
Schweitzer said SCOPE serves 1,000 clients in six Trumbull County communities.
Mary Foster, executive director of Hospice of the Valley, said the $15,000 donation “will be put back into care for our patients and will help them and our community.” Hospice of the Valley provides care for people with terminal illness.
Dr. DeVengencie said Packed House is working on presenting another benefit concert next spring in Warren.
“I can’t say who we want to bring in, but it’s a national act, and everyone will know who they are,” he added.
