Alumni announces raffle winners

Austintown Alumni Association hosted its annual fundraiser raffle drawing recently at the Fitch Hall of Fame game Sept. 17.

Winners were: Mary Ann McGahagan (first prize, $1500), Mary Ellen Wellmitch (second prize, gift basket of restaurant gift certificates) and Sue DeToro (third prize, dinner for two at Rachel’s).

This raffle is a major fundraiser each year, but the organization also sells Wendell August Forge items (i.e. mugs, key chains and Christmas ornaments personalized for Fitch High School) all year round.

Since its inception, the alumni has raised $22,500 in scholarships for high school students and $10,500 for teachers mini-grants.

Individuals who are Austintown Fitch graduates or friends of the Austintown schools may become members of the Alumni Association.

Donations (which may be made in memory of or in honor of a loved one) provide scholarships for graduating Fitch seniors and support classroom mini-grants for Austintown teachers.

Members receive an annual newsletter.
