Rashad Riggins jailed after drug, weapons charges

Rashad William Riggins, 29, of West Lucius Avenue is in Mahoning County jail after Youngstown police charged him with possession of dangerous drugs, carrying a concealed weapon, illegal possession of a weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia and funding of drugs or marijuana trafficking stemming from an incident about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police on patrol saw Riggins’ car parked in a vacant lot on West Lucius. When police approached, Riggins tried to leave the vehicle and was ordered to stay in the car.

Police officers said they saw a .22-caliber handgun.

After taking Riggins into custody, police said they also found a 9mm handgun, a bag of suspected marijuana and a bag of white pills believed to be a narcoticlike pain reliever in the car.

A 17-year-old female in the car told police Riggins had reached for the .22 when police shined a light on the car. The juvenile was released.
