Investigators: Fatal Ohio fire started by a child

BELPRE, Ohio (AP) — Investigators have determined that a child playing with a flame caused an Ohio house fire that killed a 2-year-old girl.

Two adults and a 4-year-old boy escaped Monday from the burning home in Belpre in southeast Ohio. Belpre police Chief E.D. Clevenger tells the News and Sentinel of nearby Parkersburg, W.Va., that it’s still not clear which child accidentally started the fire.

The Ohio fire marshal’s office said Thursday no smoke alarms were found in the home.

The funeral service for Bianca Jackson was scheduled for today at a Parkersburg funeral home.
