Man arrested with drugs after asking police officer for ride

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.

Authorities say a 19-year-old Northern California man was arrested after he asked a police officer for a ride, agreed to be searched and was found to have cocaine in his pocket.

Ongley Raymond Ocon III was charged with felony possession of cocaine.

San Mateo County prosecutors said Ocon left a party in San Carlos early Sunday morning, walked up to a Redwood City police patrol car and asked for a ride home to Danville.

The officer asked Ocon whether he was carrying anything illegal.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said Ocon initially responded “yes” before pausing and saying “no.”

Wagstaffe told the Contra Costa Times Ocon then agreed to be searched, and the officer discovered the cocaine.

Woman brings fake $10,000 bill to Massachusetts bank

LOWELL, Mass.

A $10,000 bill? The staff at a Massachusetts bank just wasn’t buying it.

The suspicious staffers quickly determined that the bill a woman brought into the Lowell bank was a fake.

Michael Gallagher, risk management director at Enterprise Bank, told The Sun of Lowell that it is believed there are only about 300 $10,000 bills left, and most are in the hands of collectors.

The bank called police, who in turn notified the U.S. Secret Service, the agency that investigates counterfeiting.

Gallagher would not say what kind of transaction the woman attempted with the note on Tuesday.

The woman’s name was not released because she has not been charged, but a police spokesman said she may have mental-health issues.
