Boardman tops Hubbard in semis

BOARDMAN

Nikki Hillard scored the game-winner late in the second half on an assist by Danielle Petrus to help the Boardman High girls soccer team defeat Hubbard 2-1 in a Division I sectional semifinal on Wednesday.

Chelsea Billock scored the other goal off an assist from Heather Hughes and Hailey Dickey and Kayliegh Huck combined for three saves for the Spartans, who will play at Poland at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Ellen Begat scored for Hubbard and Mariah Gordon had 19 saves.

Poland 9, Uniontown Lake 0

POLAND

Erin Gabriel had three goals and an assist for Poland (13-3-2), while Madison Brooker had two goals and Abby Brenoel and Lindsey Cooper each had a goal and assist. Carolyn Balzano and Katie Marucci also scored while Tatum Marucci had two assists and Rachael Robertson had one.

Casey Tisdale had seven saves for the Blue Streaks.

Fitch 11, Canton McKinley 0

AUSTINTOWN

Tori Koch had four goals, Emily Durina had three goals and four assists and Kelsey Martin had a goal and two assists for the Falcons (13-1-3), who will host Niles in Monday night’s sectional final. Kristen Schmidt, Lauren Bower and Brooke Neal also scored, while Mikah Vaughn had two assists and Kaitlyn Shiley one.

McKinley finished 1-15.

MARLINGTON

Emily Estes made nine saves and Taylor Stewart scored the lone goal for Niles.

Canfield 8, Louisville 1

CANFIELD

Katie Siskowic, Paige Bidinotto and Rachel Morris each had two goals for Canfield (10-4-3), while Kacie Blank added a goal and an assist and Alys Cook had two assists. Shelby Lazar also scored, while Brogan Todd and Elena Billy had assists. Jackie Podolsky made two saves and Olivia Governor had one for the Cardinals, who will host Hoover in a sectional final at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Elizabeth Stefanik scored for Louisville, while Erica Mitchell had 14 saves and Lauren Skolosh had five.

Howland 5, Warren Harding 0

HOWLAND

Erika Nites scored a goal and had two assists for Howland (12-3-2), while Heather Seagraves and Seyla Perez each had a goal and an assist. Olivia Nicholas and Gina Wall also scored and Emily Price had two saves for the Tigers, who will host West Branch in a sectional final at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Cierra Sparks made 10 saves for Harding (9-8).

CANTON

Niki Carlton scored the lone goal and Sierra Woolf made 11 saves for the Warriors (11-4-2). Nicole Becks had four saves for GlenOak.
