Author to speak on future of green movement

Dr. David Orr, environmentalist, author and professor, will speak about the future of the green movement, including partnerships between community and religious groups, at a conference from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown, 1105 Elm St.

Orr is the Paul Sears Distinguished Professor of Environmental Studies and Politics at Oberlin College.

Author of five books related to environmental issues, Orr has published 150 articles in scientific journals, social- science publications and popular magazines.

The program includes an “ethical-eating” lunch and choice of these workshops — “Building Green Partnerships in Your Community,” presented by Simon Nicholson, assistant professor at the School of International Service at American University in Washington, D.C.; or “Building Green Partnerships in Your Congregation,” presented by Robin Nelson, Green Sanctuary program leader for the Unitarian Universalist Association, and Nancy King-Smith, Northeast Ohio leader for Unitarian Universalist Ministry For The Earth.
