Woman reports rape

WARREN

A 22-year-old Garrettsville woman reported that she was raped at gunpoint about 10:30 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Paige Avenue and Griswold Street by a man in a car.

The woman said a man in his early 20s picked her up in a red, two-door car. The man wore gloves and a condom and let the woman walk away afterward. A male juvenile in the front seat of the car watched. The woman refused medical attention and called for her mother to pick her up.

Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate a one-vehicle fatal accident at 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Tibbetts Wick Road in which Donald L. Rhodes Jr., 34, was killed.

The patrol said the Youngstown man was traveling east on Tibbetts Wick and drove off the right side of the road, striking a tree. Rhodes was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car, a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertible.

BB gun found

Police were called about a man carrying a gun and bags at about 10 a.m. Sunday on North State Street. Shortly after, a city resident called police and said he had found a gun on North State.

Police said the gun was a Daisy BB air gun, model 15XT, and a check found it was not entered in the system as stolen. It was placed in evidence and will be destroyed.
