Adam Justice leads Fitch soccer team over Harding, 1-0

AUSTINTOWN

Adam Justice scored 30 seconds into the second half to lead Austintown Fitch over Warren Harding, 1-0, in a boys Division I sectional soccer game on Monday night.

Mike Shaffer got the assist for the Falcons (10-5-2), who play at Howland on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Chris Platton had three saves.

Charles Wargo had 18 saves for Harding (8-7-2).

Division I

Also in the tournament, Boardman defeated Canton Timken, 10-1 and North Canton Hoover beat Canton McKinley, 3-0.

GIRLS

CORTLAND

Nicole Moldovan and Allison Pavlik each scored three goals for Lakeview in a Div. II tournament game. Pavlik also had an assist. Lindsey Clark added two goals, while Erica Runyan and Sydney Paul each had one. Shawna Hunter and Alia Gagne had two assists each, and Justine Defrancesco had one. Elanie Moldovan had one save.

Cami Chickonoski had 15 saves for YCS.

WARREN JFK 7, MAPLEWOOD 0

Kellu Guarnieri scored three goals, while Erin McBride and Natalie Hoso each added two goals and an assist, for the Eagles (11-5). Nicole Rodomsky had two assists and Lauren Rodomsky had one.

JFK outshot Maplewood 23-0. Valerie Blank had 18 saves for Maplewood.

CHAMPION

Marissa Walker scored three goals while Molly Stephens and Jordyn Skaggs had two each for the Flashes (13-2-2). Taryn Hanna, Emilee Lipps, Julie Zalar and Megan Harkins also scored.

Rachel Ellis had two goals for Newton Falls (13-3-1), while Brooke Rodgers and Angela Giuliano each had one. Rodgers and Giuliano each had an assist. Goalkeeper Stephanie Nussle had five saves.

URSULINE 4, GIRARD 3

GIRARD

Brittany Curd scored two goals for Ursuline, and Megan Buckley’s tally with one minute left in the second overtime gave Ursuline the win.

Tori Lehn also scored for the Irish, who play next at Lakeview on Thursday. Breanne Curd had 14 saves, and Katie Woodford had six.

Girard got goals from Amanda Pavlak, Brielle Bello and Toni Costarella. Pavlak and Pam Douglas added assists, and Meagan McNicholas had 14 saves.

MOONEY 7, LIBERTY 0

STRUTHERS

Amy Vinopal scored four goals, while Taylor Sikich had two and Taylor Dambrogio one for the Cardinals, who next play Springfield. Lindsey Perkins, Natalee Mulhall, Vinopal and Sikich had assists. Vinopal also had a save, as did Mckenna Winninger.

Liberty’s Marybeth Merrick had 24 saves.

NORTH LIMA

Toni Stephenson scored for South Range 10 minutes into the second half, on an assist by Rachel Coler. Kristin Robinson had three saves for the Raiders, who next play Warren JFK.

Tori Drago had 10 saves for the Clippers.
