WASHINGTON
Stars and Stripes, independent daily news source for the U.S. military, will publish its annual Combined Federal Campaign Guide on Saturday.
The guide is a supplement featuring testimonials and short articles about various nonprofit organizations, all designed to aid active-duty military, Defense Department civilians, and other federal personnel to make well-informed choices about their charitable contributions.
CFC is a program that permits qualified organizations to solicit donations from federal employees. In 2009, CFC collected $286.6 million, an increase of nearly 3 percent over the previous year, despite the economic downturn.
Since its origin in 1961, CFC has garnered $6 billion for charities.
