Boardman orchestras present fall pops concert
The Boardman High School Classical, Symphony, Chamber and Project Mayhem Orchestras will present a concert at the Boardman Performing Arts Center Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Admission donation for the concert will be $3 per adult and $1 per student with senior citizens and preschoolers admitted free.
Music with a popular classical flair will be featured at this concert. Composers from Mozart to John Williams will be performed.
The Boardman Classical Orchestra will perform the “Elegy and Dance” and “Endpin Rag” by Richard Meyer, “Danza” by Robert Smith and “Gargoyles” by Doug Spata. \
The Chamber Orchestra will play classical tunes “Simple Symphony” by Britten, and “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” by Mozart. The Symphony Orchestra will play “Night on Bald Mountain,” by Moussorgsky, “The Barber of Seville Overture” by Rossini and “Hoe-down” by Aaron Copeland.
In addition, Boardman High School’s own renowned rock orchestra, Project Mayhem, will make a guest appearance to perform rock tunes in Trans-Siberian Orchestra style.
The Boardman Orchestras are the only such school-sponsored ensembles in the Valley. The high school orchestra department numbers more than 170 students.
The Boardman Orchestra program is under the direction of Frank Dispenza, Michele Prokop and Bill Amendol.
