MINERAL RIDGE
The startup date for garbage pickup and recycling throughout Weathersfield Township has been changed to Jan. 1, 2011, instead of Dec. 1.
Trustees moved the date this week, chairman Steven Gerberry said, to allow Allied Waste Services of Youngstown more time to order more garbage containers, recycling bins and a new truck.
The switch will also allow billing to take place on a routine quarterly basis. Trustees hired the company to provide refuse and garbage pickup and recycling for township residents last month under a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year.
All residents must switch to the company. The quarterly cost of basic service is $41.94.

Hardware fraud
NEW CASTLE, PA.
A Lawrence County man is behind bars on charges of defrauding hardware stores in Ohio and Pennsylvania out of more than $30,000.
According to The Vindicator’s media partner WFMJ TV-21, John Cameron, 35, would order large quantities of construction supplies, mainly copper tubing, and then have the store bill construction companies he did not work for.
Cameron would scrap the material and use the money to support a drug habit. Police arrested him at his home Tuesday. He is in the county jail on a $10,000 bond.
