The Great Pumpkin Carve-Out Contest begins tonight at Boardman Park. Participants are asked to bring carving tools and newspapers to the park where pumpkins will be available for a small fee. The contest is from 6 to 10 tonight, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Prizes will be awarded in various age categories. Haunted wagon rides also will be tonight from dusk to 10 p.m. The rides will run every Friday and Saturday during that time for the next three weekends. All proceeds will benefit local nonprofit organizations. The cost of a wagon ride is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger. Robbery indictment

CLEVELAND

A federal grand jury has indicted a 42-year-old Bristolville man on charges of armed bank robbery, obstruction of commerce by robbery and attempted carjacking, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Thursday. Frank W. Prusky Jr. was charged with trying to car-jack a vehicle from a patron at Santisi’s IGA in Girard and trying to take merchandise from a Dollar General store in Girard, both while threatening an employee with a fake firearm, on Aug. 20; taking money and merchandise from a Walgreen’s in Niles while threatening an employee with a knife Aug. 22; and an armed robbery of $1,677 from Huntington National Bank in Girard on Aug. 24. The Youngstown FBI office investigated the case.

Hike or bike event

LISBON

The Columbiana County Medical Society is sponsoring a family hike or bike event on the Greenway Trail from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday starting at the P.L.& W. Train Station, 232 S. Market St. The goal of the event is to encourage families to exercise together for a healthy lifestyle. The first 500 participants will receive a free reflective vest or rain poncho. Water and fruit will be available. Hikers and bikers may travel the 12-mile trail as far as they choose. Parking is available at the Train Station. Flu shots available

The One Health Ohio Lloyd McCoy Community Health Center, 1977 Niles Road SE, will have flu shots available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Monday.
