Sharon, Pa., man says he killed bear that charged him, kids

SHARON, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man says he killed a black bear that charged at him and his daughters during a hunting trip.

Jim Moore says he pulled an arrow from his quiver and shot the bear Saturday evening while hunting with his children.

It is illegal to hunt bear out of season in Pennsylvania, but the Sharon man told WPXI-TV he didn’t have time to think about that. He says he was defending himself and his family.

Moore says he called the game commission and helped officials track the bear and find its body.
