Police: NYC officer shot bank robber in Manhattan

NEW YORK (AP) — New York City police say an officer shot a man who had just robbed a bank at one of the busiest spots in Manhattan.

Police say the man was wielding a knife. They say an officer shot him once at a Chase Manhattan Bank branch located right next to entrances to Madison Square Garden and Pennsylvania Station in busy Midtown.

Police say the man, in his 60s, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
