Katy Perry, Akon in on the Secret
NEW YORK
Katy Perry, Akon and model Adriana Lima in a $2 million fantasy bra are among the highlights planned for this year’s Victoria’s Secret fashion show.
Other models expected on the runway include Alessandra Ambrosio, Rosie-Huntington Whiteley, Chanel Iman and Candice Swanepoel. Missing from the lineup is Heidi Klum, who recently parted with the brand.
The lingerie show has become a holiday tradition of sorts, with many of the catwalkers outfitted in elaborate, fanciful wings — and very little else — parading in front of elaborate sets. The show will be taped Nov. 10 to be televised in an hourlong special on CBS on Nov. 30.
Painting may be a Michelangelo
TONAWANDA, N.Y.
An Italian art historian is convinced that a painting passed through generations in a New York family is the work of Michelangelo.
The 16th-century painting hung or was stored for years in the Kober family’s upstate New York home while various family members struck out in efforts to convince the skeptical art world it’s the real thing.
But now the painting of Jesus and Mary is getting a second look with the publication of historian Antonio Forcellino’s book, “The Lost Pieta,” after years of research. Forcellino was contacted by the painting’s owner, Martin Kober of Tonawanda, near Buffalo. Kober said Wednesday the painting was willed to his great-great-grandfather’s sister-in-law by a German baroness.
Michael Jackson video to be released
NEW YORK
Michael Jackson’s complete library of videos is being restored and re-released, as well as a never-released clip for his song “One More Chance.” The “Michael Jackson’s Vision” boxed set is due out on Nov. 22 and includes 41/2 hours worth of material, including the full version of “Black or White,” which was cut short after its initial release due to violent imagery and Jackson’s gyrations.
Jackson made a short film for the song “One More Chance,” but it was never released. He was charged with sexual molestation in 2003, right around the time the single was released. He was acquitted in that case. Other videos include Martin Scorsese-directed “Bad” and his most famous video, “Thriller.”
Funny Or Die video tapped for TBS pilot
NEW YORK
A Funny Or Die viral video is getting a chance for a television crossover. The comedy website announced Wednesday that a pilot for “Undercover Karaoke” has been ordered by TBS. Funny Or Die will produce the potential series, and co-founders Will Ferrell and Adam McKay will contribute to it.
The show will be based on a video in which the singer-songwriter Jewel donned a disguise of a prosthetic nose, wig, glasses and butt padding and sang under an alias at a Los Angeles karaoke joint. She astonished the crowd, only to later reveal her identity.
Created by Eric Appel, the video has been watched more than 3.3 million times.
Hip-hop executive faces gun charge
NEW YORK
A rising hip-hop record executive was arrested driving through New York City on Wednesday with a gun loaded with hollow-point bullets in his car, authorities said. RCA Music Group senior vice president Bryan Leach didn’t enter a plea at his arraignment on weapons-possession charges.
Leach was pulled over for driving erratically in Manhattan shortly after midnight, prosecutors said. The .380-caliber, semiautomatic pistol gun was in the car’s central console, the six bullets inside, according to a court complaint.
