The chapel at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh was the setting at 3 p.m. May 15 as Crystal Marie Chicone and Joseph Patrick Burkhart, both of Chandler, Ariz., were united in marriage by the Rev. Michael Swierz.

After a reception in the Power Ballroom at the university, the couple left on a wedding trip to Fiji.

The bride, a daughter of Carmen and Janet Chicone of North Lima, and the groom, a son of Joe and Dee Burkhart of Sayre, Pa., live in Chandler.

The bride’s ivory silk taffeta gown was enhanced with beaded lace and featured a modified A-line skirt, sweetheart neckline and a cathedral train.

Cobalt blue gowns were worn by the bride’s sister and honor attendant, Tina Chicone, and the bridesmaids, Melissa Zeserson, Colleen Burkhart-Smith and Kelly Burkhart, sisters of the groom; Cecilia Chicone, the bride’s cousin; Amanda Benninger; Alyssa Centofanti; and Nikki Villella.

Jeff Boyer performed the duties of best man, and groomsmen were Carmen Chicone, the bride’s brother; Jim Bobeck and Rick Osick, cousins of the groom; John Voinski; Jim Galley; Josh Amigh; and Mark Mingols. Ring bearer was Declan Zeserson, the groom’s nephew.

The bride graduated from Duquesne University with a doctor of pharmacy degree. The groom graduated with a degree in biology and doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Both are pharmacists with Walgreens in Chandler.
