The Youngstown State women’s golf team finished first by 27 strokes at the Holiday Inn Colonial Classic hosted by Robert Morris.
Samantha Formeck took medalist honors with a 154 while Katie Rogner was second with a 163.
Formeck carded two 77s in winning her first individual title of the year. Her two rounds were the lowest for the event.
In the five-team event, YSU carded a 658 and was trailed by Robert Morris (685), Mount St. Mary’s (695), Saint Francis, Pa. (696) and Niagara (777).
OHSAA meeting is Thursday at Fitch
AUSTINTOWN
The OHSAA-mandated state rules meeting for basketball is Thursday at 7 p.m. at Austintown Fitch High School.
The meeting is mandatory for all basketball officials, and each school must be represented.
Officials and coaches who participated in the on-line rules presentation do not have to attend.

Shea handed US debut against Colombia
CHESTER, Pa.
FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea was given his U.S. national team debut against Colombia on Tuesday night, and defender Oguchi Onyewu captained the Americans for the first time while AC Milan teammate Mario Yepes captained the visitors.
U.S. coach Bob Bradley kept just six starters from Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Poland in Chicago: Onyewu; midfielders Michael Bradley, Jermaine Jones and Stuart Holden; forward Jozy Altidore; and Maurice Edu, who moved from central defender back to his regular defensive midfield position in a 4-5-1.
Onyewu, still coming back from knee surgery last October, has not even dressed for AC Milan this season.

Hall of Famer Bob Feller recovering
CLEVELAND
Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Feller has returned home following surgery to have a pacemaker implanted.
The 91-year-old Feller was released from the Cleveland Clinic earlier this month and had been staying at a rehab facility before returning to his home in Gates Mills, Ohio, on Tuesday, a family friend told The Associated Press.
The longtime Indians ace is doing well and will continue to receive outpatient treatment at the hospital, the friend said. Feller has undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in August.
Feller won a club record 266 games in an 18-year career with Cleveland that was interrupted by him serving three years in the military during World War II.
Pair pull out of New York City Marathon
NEW YORK
Kenyan stars Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot and Martin Lel have pulled out of next month’s New York City Marathon because of leg injuries.
Lel won in New York in 2003 and 2007 and is a three-time London Marathon champion. NYC Marathon organizer New York Road Runners announced Tuesday that Lel had a right leg injury.
The Nov. 7 men’s race will be headlined by the NYC Marathon debut of marathon world-record holder Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia and American Meb Keflezighi’s shot at defending his title.
Ex-NASCAR driver Hmiel recovering
INDIANAPOLIS
Ex-NASCAR driver Shane Hmiel is showing some positive signs in the hospital as he recovers from a crash over the weekend in Indiana.
The U.S. Auto Club said Tuesday that the 30-year-old Hmiel remains in critical but stable condition at an Indianapolis hospital with fractures in his neck and back.
He doesn’t appear to have any head trauma. Doctors say they are encouraged because he has been able to move both arms.
